As in “The Crown”: Did the queen have little time for her children?

Queen Elizabeth II (94) is not doing well in the new season of The Crown, at least not in terms of maternal care. The head of the British monarchy has four children: Prince Charles (72), Princess Anne (70), Prince Andrew (60) and Prince Edward (56). Charles and Anne are still ahead Elisabeth ‘ Coronation was born in 1953 and is exactly what the author of “The Crown” sees Peter Morgan the reason for their distance: He is supposed to have no time for his children afterwards.

In an interview with Times explained Peter: The then 22-year-old became a very young mother and was unable to step into this role when suddenly her father, King George VI, died – and so bequeathed the throne to her. Suddenly she had to take on the duties and responsibilities of a queen. Those who suffered: Charles and Anne, who were still children at the time. His only four-year-old son, according to historians and royal insiders, “needed a lot of love that he probably couldn’t give him.”

In the hit Netflix series, there is an episode where said mother-child distance should become its own: The Queen (played by Olivia Coleman) sees how close the former prime minister is. Margaret Thatcher (✝87) and their son Marco. As a result, he seeks closeness to his own offspring and meets with each individually. Additionally, she asks her secretary to compile a summary of her children’s hobbies and interests – she doesn’t want to appear “uninformed” and “cold” during the respective meeting.
