The Swedish Post and Telecommunications Authority (PTS) released last month the list of four companies authorized to bid for 5G frequencies in this country, but a number of eligibility conditions have been established for these telecom operators. . Two of them say the equipment needed for the 5G rollout will not come from ZTE or Huawei, and the current infrastructure will be modified so that by 2025 there will be no equipment of any kind from ZTE and Huawei.

In this context, Ericsson CEO Borje Ekholm says Huawei’s ban on the implementation of 5G technology is a violation of commercial rights and an anti-competitive practice. Borje Ekholm also states that his company is built on solid principles which is why it is very important to have a free market, a market where you can do business without restrictions.

At first glance we could say that the CEO’s statement is at least bizarre considering that Huawei and also ZTE are direct competitors of Ericsson, but the truth is different. Huawei is suing the PTS decision and therefore the entire 5G implementation process in Sweden is currently overdue. The development of 5G in the country is blocked and Ericsson does not want it because precious time and money are being wasted.
