OnePlus expanded its smartphone offering in 2020 and, along with OnePlus Nord, cheaper models have arrived that should theoretically contribute substantially to the Chinese company’s sales. One of these models is OnePlus Nord N100, which you can also find in the offer of the largest Romanian online store.

OnePlus Nord N100 with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage – 999 lei;

What specifications are included in this price?

  • 6.52 inch IPS LCD display with HD + resolution (1600 x 720 pixels), ratio 20: 9, 60 Hz refresh rate, protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3;
  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 460 octa-core processor developed on 11 nm, Adreno 610 GPU, 4GB LPDDR4X RAM and 64 UFS 2.1 storage with support for microSD cards up to 256GB;
  • Android 10 with Oxygen OS 10.5 interface;
  • 4G, Wi-Fi a / b / g / n / ac, dual-band, Wi-Fi direct, DLNA, hotspot, bluetooth 5.1, A-GPS, GPS, GLONASS, BDS, GALILEO, USB Type-C, NFC, fingerprint reader, dual speakers;
  • 13 Megapixel with f / 2.2, EIS + 2 Megapixel for depth of field, macro f / 2.4 + 2 Megapixel, LED flash, shoot at 1080p at 30 fps, 8 Megapixel front camera with f / 2.0, shoot at 1080p at 30 fps ;
  • 5000 mAh battery with quick charge at 18W, weight 188 g and dimensions: 164.9 x 65.1 x 8.49 mm.

In PRO spots I’d put the 5000mAh battery, dual stereo speakers and that’s it. At 999 lei, it barely incorporates the Snapdragon 460 processor, the software hasn’t even taken the step from the start to Android 11, the screen has HD + resolution.

Now I understand why one of the founders of OnePlus retired in 2020. They simply want to take advantage of the company’s reputation in the top segment. It’s just that the OnePlus Nord at 2000 seemed pretty well balanced in terms of hardware (battery life isn’t its strong point). I’m curious how OxygenOS runs on a modest configuration (OnePlus only had smartphones with the best Qualcomm processors, hence the fluidity of the user interface). Now it remains to be seen how they scaled the interface to work decently.

As specific, it is surpassed by a multitude of models with a price of 999 lei. It remains to be seen whether the software is so good that it’s worth taking the step towards a hardware configuration that doesn’t attract first contact.

Update: Qualcomm Snapdragon 460 is a processor developed on 11nm, with 4 cores on ARM Cortex-A73 and another 4 cores on ARM Cortex-A53. It was designed by Qualcomm as a gaming-capable chipset in the entry-level sector. It’s just that the entry-level segment in my opinion means mobile phones with a price of up to 6-700 lei, in no case 1000 lei where we are already talking about mid-range.
