Eligible to play from Friday – stage clear for Dortmund child prodigy Moukoko – Sport

Even before Youssoufa Moukoko appeared in the Bundesliga, the enthusiasm for the German-Cameroonian was enormous. The BVB talent celebrated his 16th birthday on Friday and can now play in the Bundesliga.

He could become the youngest player in Bundesliga history at Hertha on Saturday. If coach Lucien Favre lets him play, Moukoko replaces Nuri Sahin, who made his debut in 2005 at the age of 16, 11 months and 1 day.

Moukoko is expected to have a worldwide career. “I haven’t seen a 15-year-old that good in my life,” said Erling Haaland. Cameroon legend Samuel Eto’o sees the striker as the “next great player after Messi”.

Moukoko himself has fueled expectations:

• In 4 official matches this season he has scored 13 goals for Dortmund’s A-Juniors.
• He scored 44 goals in 23 games.
• Also in B-Juniors, he triumphed with 90 goals in 56 games.

Moukoko tries to satisfy the clamor with ease: “I read what the media write, but I don’t put myself under pressure.”
