Urgent health warning for citizens

The Egyptian ministry of health and population confirmed on its official Facebook page that antibiotics do not treat viruses, but rather bacterial infections.

The Ministry of Health has warned citizens about the misuse and excessive use of antibiotics during the Coronavirus pandemic. Because it can exacerbate the problem of antibiotic resistance.

Yesterday, Wednesday, the Ministry of Health and Population announced that 133 Coronavirus healers have been discharged from hospitals, after receiving the necessary medical treatment and recovery according to the guidelines of the World Health Organization, bringing the total of recovered from the virus to 101,421 cases to date.

Dr Khaled Mujahid, the Minister of Health and Population’s Advisor for Media Affairs and the ministry’s official spokesperson, said 329 new cases were recorded that tested positive for laboratory testing of the virus, as part of the necessary surveillance, investigation and examination procedures that the ministry conducts according to the guidelines of the World Health Organization, indicating the death of 14 new cases.

Mujahid said that according to the recommendations of the World Health Organization issued on May 27, 2020, the disappearance of symptoms for 10 days after infection is an indication of the patient’s recovery from the Corona virus.

Mujahid said the total number recorded in Egypt with the new Corona virus as of Wednesday is 111613 cases, including 101,421 cases that have been treated and 6,495 deaths.
