As some users indicate in Apple’s support forum, 2013 and 2014 MacBook Pros freeze during installation and cannot be restored. They are practically no longer functional.
But it’s not just the old models that cause problems. Even the new MacBooks with the M1 chipset suffer an “accidental death” with the new operating system. If you want to reinstall your new MacBook with Apple processor, you will also see a black screen. A new installation is not possible. Only restoring via rescue software and a USB cable with another MacBook brings the new devices back to life. So you should first refrain from installing Apple’s new MacBook M1s.
