CurseForge changes the Shadowlands release schedule

November 24 finally begins and hordes of heroes leave in WoW to explore the Shadowlands. Most of these heroes rely on the help and support of one or another add-on. This can range from full interfaces to a little help. But what most add-on users have in common is that they use an app or client to keep add-ons up-to-date. The Twitch client, which has worked with CurseForge so far, was arguably the most popular. However, this will soon lose the Mod tab and thus no longer offer WoW add-ons. Instead, the CurseForge app is used.

To get all the data on your server, the app’s services need to be idle for a while. That doesn’t mean you can’t download add-ons there. However, authors may not be able to update their add-ons. And that would have been the case, stupidly, in the week of WoW Shadowlands release. Worse timing is hardly possible as it usually takes a lot of updates to start an expansion because all sorts of changes and not everything could be tested on beta servers.

But now the operators have changed their schedule.

• On November 25, only the “new moderation of the project” stops. So no new add-ons can be loaded by the authors. All new add-ons will only be checked and released from November 30th.
• From November 25 to November 29, moderators will work extra shifts to quickly process and approve updates to existing add-ons.
• From November 30th (one week after release) CurseForge will enter “Read Only” mode. From there you can only download until the move is complete.
  • How long it will take to complete the transfer and for operations to return to normal is not certain. However, it is expected that everything will work normally again on December 3rd, and that the add-ons can be updated again.
