Sony has officially announced the new FX6 camera (model ILME-FX6V), the latest addition to the Sony Cinema Line range, a series of products for those who make films, short films and other video productions.

As part of the new Cinema Line range, which includes the VENICE and FX9 cameras, the new FX6 camera incorporates Sony’s best technologies in terms of image sensors, processing engines and autofocus (AF) performance. The FX6 is also compatible with a wide range of Sony E-mount lenses to provide extended creative flexibility.

The new camera features a 10.2MP full-frame Exmor R ™ CMOS sensor, with backlight, for an extended dynamic range of more than 15 exposure stages, with high sensitivity and extremely low image noise. The base ISO sensitivity for the FX6 is 800, providing settings to increase sensitivity up to ISO 12,800 – with the ability to expand up to 409,600 – for recording in low and very low light conditions. Can record in XAVC All Intra format with 10-bit 4: 2: 2 color depth for image quality in DCI 4K (4096 x 2160 up to 60p), QFHD 4K (3840 x 2160 up to 120p) and FHD (1920 x 1080 up to 240p), for incredibly detailed slow motion recordings. When more convenient file formats are required, FX6 can record in XAVC Long GOP on 8 bit 4: 2: 0 with 4K QFHD resolution (3840 x 2160 up to 120p) and 10 bit 4: 2: 2 with FHD resolution (1920 X 1080 – up to 240p.). The FX6 also includes a BIONZ XR image processor, first used for the new Sony Alpha 7S III camera, which delivers up to four times the processing performance of the FS5 II model.
