Colombian series and movies that you can watch on Netflix and other platforms

When you talk about streaming platforms, you automatically think of productions and stories made outside the country. What many don’t know is that the different streaming platforms have a complete catalog with the “Made in Colombia” seal, their textures and some that they have exported from the most viewed TV channels in the country.

Inside the package there are series like The queen of the flow, which broke a record in its first season on Caracol TV; True lies, which rose to fame during the pandemic and internationally recognized films such as Monkeys Y Mary full of grace, with which Catalina Sandino was nominated for an Oscar.

On both Netflix and Amazon Prime you can find countless stories made in the country and that, certainly, few knew existed. This is a small list:

Revenge

It is found on Netflix and Amazon. It is a Colombian television series, an adaptation of the famous American hit series Revenge, by ABC. Written by Tania Cárdenas and Conchita Ruiz, tells the story of Amanda Santana, daughter of David Santana, an honest and hardworking man who was betrayed by Ramón and Victoria Piedrahíta. They, unscrupulous, accused him of having committed a terrorist attack on a plane.

One a year doesn’t hurt

Available on Amazon. This film is about a director who, accompanied by his cameraman, tries to find out how true the rumor that “Colombians drink” is. Along the way, he comes across traditional families and parties that will have unusual outcomes.

Monkeys

Available on Netflix. This is one of the most outstanding films of Colombian cinema. The film tells the story of a group of guerrillas who commit a kidnapping and await the payment of the ransom. While they wait for the money, interpersonal relationships within the group become strained.

You don’t know who I am 1 and 2

The film is based on the experience of a comedian who decides to pass himself off as a millionaire in order to achieve success. The plot is about citizens using the famous phrase “you don’t know who I am” to try to get away with it.

Hugo Chavez, the commander

It can be seen on Netflix and Amazon: it is a Colombian television series produced by Sony Pictures Television and is based on the life of former president of Venezuela Hugo Chávez.

Love and live

Available on Netflix. This is a romantic drama that tells the story of a young farmer who travels to Bogota in search of his lost sister. There he falls in love with an artist in a food market, but then ends up entangled in a dangerous crime network. It is a remake based on a soap opera of the same name produced in 1988.

Garzón Live

It can be seen on Amazon. This series pays homage to one of the country’s most remembered journalists and comedians: Jaime Garzón, who, with his particular way of doing critical journalism and political humor, marked an era in the history of Colombia. Garzón was murdered in events still under investigation.
