The eight deals FC Barcelona want to close …

The previous transfer window closed last October but, until then, the board was chaired by Josep Maria Bartomeu failed to close a series of signings and departures necessary to fix the first team from both an economic and a sporting point of view. With the previous board already out of a club in the hands of the Management fee with Carles Tusquets in command, these operations remain pending cases.

The problem is that the elections won’t come until the end of next January, so the next council will have no options to make decisions until the market closes. Something that will leave very little room for maneuver to perform those movements that were pending in the summer but they are still vital for both the economic survival and the competitiveness of the team.

This is why the management commission could act sooner to try and save FC Barcelona in both respects. Actions that contemplate up to two purchases considered priority by Ronald Koeman, two interesting transfers of players for the future but which by now do not enter the plans of the coaching staff and four sales of players considered expendable and whose salary only increases the weakened limit of the club in the paycheck.

Transfers

  • Memphis Depay, from Olympique de Lyon, is Ronald Koeman’s main request to complete the lead. The Dutch manager knows his quality and versatility and the fact that his contract will expire next June means his transfer can be cheap and doable for the club.
  • Eric García, of Manchester City, a possible January sign-up is virtually ruled out and everything indicates that FC Barcelona will have to wait until summer to get it. The Barça club will be attentive to economic options for the central axis, such as the possible transfer of Antonio Rüdiger, from Chelsea.

Homework

  • Carles Aleñá For years it has been considered one of the great jewels of the Masia. However, the competition in the double pivot is reducing his visibility and he has only played a few insignificant minutes. The goal is to surrender to a first division team.
  • Riqui Puig It is a similar case to that of his teammate Carles Aleñá, as he is a highly regarded player for the future but that Ronald Koeman cannot fit into his scheme. His role has so far been residual and is not expected to increase, so a transfer is seen as a good solution.

Sales

  • Samuel umtiti He is the main one, given that his presence in the team costs around 12 million euros per season. The problem is that his physical problems persist and few clubs are willing to pay for his transfer and salary.
  • Martin Braithwaite he’s a good supporter, but he’ll be out of place on the team if Memphis Depay finally arrives. The Danish international has barely had minutes, something he needs to be able to participate in Eurocup 2021 and which will make it easier for the player to accept a smooth start.
  • Junior Firpo he also complicated following at FC Barcelona. Jordi Alba and Sergi Roberto remain the owners but now, with the presence of the versatile Sergiño Dest, the Spanish-Dominican has run out of minutes. Since Serie A, some clubs have shown interest in him.
  • Matheus Fernandes there is neither expected, as this is a more than strange operation of the previous board of directors. He hasn’t played a minute since Ronald Koeman was the manager nor when he was on loan at Real Valladolid. An imminent departure is expected.
