Olascuaga is 1.80 meters tall, was born in Cartagena, Bolívar, 25 years ago, and is a social communicator – journalist from the Universidad del Norte, Barranquilla. His grandparents are from San Juan (Huila) and, in some interviews, he recognized himself as such.

The current Miss Colombia had already had experience in these contests, as she participated in the National Beauty Contest in 2018, when she was vice-queen. At that time, Gabriela Tafur of Valle del Cauca was crowned Miss Colombia. However, a few days later, Olascuaga resigned as a representative of the Bolívar department. At the time, he said he did it for personal reasons.

On Monday evening the 16 finalists were chosen: Casanare, Atlántico, Huila, Cartagena, Norte de Santander, Cesar, Amazonas, Caldas, Valle del Cauca, Bolivar, Antioquia, Nariño, Meta, Santander and Quindío, which was the one that got the most votes from the audience.

Then the six finalists were chosen to answer the questions of the jury, these were: Jenifer Pulgarín, Norte de Santander; Barbara Rodríguez, Cauca; Yeraldine Grajales, Quindio; Laura Olascuaga, Bolívar; Laura Lamus, Santander and Dayana Cárdenas by Cabildo Encanto Amazonas.

Santander, Norte de Santander and Bolívar were in the top 3. Finally, Laura lascuaga has become Miss Colombia and will represent the country in the international competition which still has no date.
