This new concept imagines an iMac Pro with more of a Mac Pro than an iMac

Now that Macs have arrived with Apple Silicon and we are Waiting for renovations in various ranges of Apple computers is the best time to dream of a redesign. In fact, we all hope that Apple renews the iMac with fewer frames and a whole series of aesthetic changes, changes that should arrive at the iMac Pro and that according to this concept could go much further.

What if Apple makes an iMac like the Mac Pro?

From Khahn Design they ask a very simple question, What if Apple made an iMac like the Mac Pro? And from here comes a concept. Obviously we start from a structure almost identical to the Apple Pro Display XDR, but with the screen a little thicker to accommodate a whole series of components.

In this iMac Pro concept, we used a few design elements above the Apple XDR Display and the Apple Mac Pro.

Let’s imagine what it would be like if the iMac could be upgraded with SSD, RAM, or even more video cards after purchase.

This device is the same size as Apple’s high-end screen, but with a cheaper body and stand. On both sides there is an opener that follows the Mac Pro opening solution and uses the Apple Silicon processor.

The most interesting part comes on the sides of the device, where, with a system very similar to the one that allows you to open the latest Mac Pro, we open a couple of covers that allow us to place PCI Express cards and other components. The mesh finish on the back of the equipment disappears from the concept, probably more for design reasons. It must be said so If the Pro Display XDR screen already needs that structure to cool properly, an iMac Pro with this power should keep it.

That concept was our first high-end industrial design concept that was difficult to create, but we were very excited while we did it.

We wanted an iMac concept that many users already want, an all-in-one upgradeable device that we can upgrade in the future without having to buy a new one.

This is truly an iMac Pro.

Set off

In addition to letting your imagination run wild with product concepts that may or may not be in development, it’s important to remember that Mark Gurman said a Mac Pro would be half of the current one. Apple probably does not have a design in mind like the one we see in this concept, but some of the mechanisms that are raised here could be seen in other products.

The first Mac M1s arrive today: doubles the SSD speed of the previous MBA, surpassing 16 MBP" in Cinebench

In any case, for now, let’s focus on the arrival of the first Mac with Apple Silicon, which is today, and thereafter, in the spring of next year we will see surprises in the other Macs. Recall that Apple should introduce the new iMac, as well as the MacBook Pro with M1, by next 2021, we will see with what design it does it.
