According to reports from users around the world, Apple’s new macOS Big Sur operating system is particularly affecting some models of MacBook Pro laptops. The new update appears to block those laptops.
Now that macOS Big Sur has been released, some are looking forward to installing this new version of the operating system on their MacBook Pro notebooks.
However, before that, it should be noted that according to user reports on the MacRumors forum, macOS Big Sur builds the older MacBook Pro models.
There have been reports of this type on Reddit and Apple’s support communities. According to those reports, users claim that while updating macOS Big Sur, their laptops displayed a closed screen and appear to have remained on that screen.
Users have tried to reset their macOS laptops in various ways, but apparently failed to remove the closed screen. It’s unclear whether all MacBook Pro laptops might be affected by the brick in the end, but so far many of the reports come from users who own older MacBook Pro models, such as the 13-inch 2013 and mid 2014.
But that doesn’t mean newer models can’t be brick-affected due to the new macOS Big Sur operating system, perhaps only on a smaller scale. One user claims that when he contacted Apple, he was told he had to schedule a repair meeting and bring his laptop for it.
This means that, for now, if your MacBook Pro laptop is suffering from a brick due to macOS Big Sur, you’ll need to take it to Apple for troubleshooting. If you have not yet updated your MacBook Pro to the Big Sur version of the macOS operating system, it is recommended that you do not update it until a software fix is released.
