If you needed one more reason to avoid buying an iPhone 12 Pro, just look at the results of the photographic tests carried out by DxOMark.
The most representative of the new smartphones launched by Apple has arrived in the hands of DxOMark. On this occasion we were able to see how the photographic performance of the new terminal coming out of Cupertino compares with the model of a year ago. In theory it is better. In practice, the difference of 4 points out of 128 is anything but a source of pride.
All the data shows that the new Apple terminals are a bad investment. They have a smaller battery than a year ago, the same autonomy and the price is higher, if you take into account the fact that you have to buy a charger and headphones after they have been removed from the box. Now add to this “performance” and the fact that they are slightly better on the video photo capture side.
The conclusion of the test performed by DxOMark is that iPhone 12 Pro has a result of 128 points for photo / video, with 135 points obtained for photos, 112 points for video and 66 for zoom. With this total score, the iPhone 12 Pro is the fourth best phone for pictures, with similar performance to the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro and one point behind the Huawei P40 Pro, which launched more than six months ago.
In terms of technical details, each of the three sensors generates 12 megapixel images. The former is the equivalent of a 26mm lens with F / 1.6 and optical image stabilization. The second sensor has an ultrawide optical system, the equivalent of 13mm with F / 2.4. The last is a telephoto lens with F / 2.0 and OIS. The newest detail is the presence of a Lidar sensor, which should do a better job of measuring the depth between elements in the frame.
In the end, the new iPhone 12 Pro performed exemplary in the test, with a very good performance on the autofocus side in both the video and photo test. The problem is, it’s not a major upgrade over the iPhone 11 Pro it replaces.
