For two rounds at the 84th US Masters in Augusta, Tiger Woods kept his chances for a 16th title in a Grand Slam tournament. In the third round, the superstar must accept the decisive setback.

Tiger Woods, who had only played six tournaments and didn’t score a top result after resuming the game in the US in June, started at Augusta National Golf Club with a fabulous and flawless round of 68 (4 under par) .

The backlog has increased

He was unable to maintain this level in the 2nd round – he had to split it into two days of play due to severe delays – and in the 3rd round. Without playing badly, he scored 71 and 72 shots.

Woods had to let his deficit increase so much that he can no longer win the tournament alone in the final round, but at most when the pros who are clearly ahead of him fail in the ranks.

In the third round, world number one Dustin Johnson went wild. With 65 strokes (7 under par), the 36-year-old American was quick to step away from the competition. Before the last round he leads by four or more shots.

Langer with a record age

Bernhard Langer set a new age record on Friday. The 63-year-old German made the cut as the oldest player in Masters history. American Tommy Aaron had set the previous age record as a participant in the second half of the tournament in 2000 (63 years, one month and 16 days). Two-time Masters Champion Langer has an extra month and day.
