According to Andrea Ammon, director of the European agency in charge of epidemics, the first vaccinations against Covid-19 could “last a few months” and take place, in the European Union, in the “first quarter of 2021”.
The vaccine competition has accelerated in the past few days with several major announcements. LOn November 9, Pfizer and BioNTech laboratories announced that their vaccine was “90% effective”, second preliminary results from phase 3. Then, Wednesday 11 November, Russia has announced that its vaccine candidate, Sputnik V, was meanwhile 92% effective against Coronavirus. However, nothing has been resolved yet and no vaccines have received approval so far.
