A goal from Firmino was more than enough to keep all three points.
Brazil beat Venezuela 1-0 at the Morumbí stadium, for the third round of the South American qualifiers for the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
The Creole team held out until the 68th minute when Roberto Firmino scored the only goal of the match.
From the start of the match, Brazil came out with everything. After three minutes Douglas Luiz sent a cross which Yordan Osorio blocks for a corner.
A few minutes later they canceled a goal for Brazil. It was a shot from Richarlison, because Firmino was ahead.
José Peseiro had to make a change due to the injury of Rolf Feltscher (16), due to an ankle disorder, Luis Mago entered and by chance occupied the left wing.
At 27, Roberto Firmino shot on the Venezuelan goal, but Wuilker Fariñez masterfully covered the shot.
After Brazil saw another goal disallowed, Fariñez shines again, saving a cross from Renan Lodi.
Venezuela dared to attack at 38 when Yeferson Soteldo sent a cross to Salomon Rondón, but was deflected for a corner by the defense.
At 42, the referee canceled a goal from Brazil for the third time that night, which pressed on the accelerator to close the first half ahead.
Darwin Machis shot on goal and the ball went into Ederson’s hands at 44 for being another of Venezuela’s shy approaches.
More pressure
At the start of the second half Paquetá came on for Douglas Luiz and Brazil came out flipped in attack.
In a dangerous play by the Brazilians there was a foul in the area that forced the referee to consult the VAR to see if there was a penalty, fortunately for Venezuela it was not decreed.
At 56, Soteldo returned to shooting directly on goal and again Ederson was able to control the ball
The Canarinhas continued to attack and the Creoles maintained their iron defense.
Vinotinto lost the other team to Roberto Rosales’ injury. Alexander González came in through him, while Soteldo, who had flashes of his quality in the game, gave way to Rómulo Otero at 64.
A quick combination Brazil managed to open the scoring with a shot from Firmino after a rebound accidentally left by Machis.
The locals kept pushing after a couple of changes to their lineup.
Cristian Cásseres finished with a header but the ball went over the Brazilian goal at 90.
Venezuela tried to break even in the discount with a free kick from Otero that hit the barrier and went out on the last line.
After taking the corner, Head Magician enters and the ball goes wide.
The hosts responded and shot several corners that didn’t create much danger to end the match 1-0.
Venezuela will face Chile on the next date.
