Matthew Perry announces when long-awaited “Friends” reunion will be shot

The news comes after production of the special program, produced by HBO Max, has been repeatedly postponed due to the pandemic.

Originally, it was to be shot in March of this year, with the audience present in the studio. Due to the pandemic, this plan has failed. Then, in May, WarnerMedia Entertainment and President Bob Greenblatt said they hoped filming would take place by the end of the summer. Once again, the plan did not materialize.

A source close to the project told Variety that a specific date for the shooting has not yet been set and that the goal is precisely the first part of 2021.

“The friends reunion has been rescheduled for early March. It looks like we’re going to have a busy year. And that’s how I like it!” Perry wrote.

Together with him, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer will appear on the program.

The show will be shot in the original “Friends” studio, Stage 24, at the Warner Bros. Studio in Burbank.

It will be broadcast by HBO Max, owned by WarnerMedia, which acquired the ten seasons of the series after a closed auction with Netflix. The company apparently paid $ 400 million for the production rights that ended in 2004.

Ben Winston (producer of “Late, Late Show With James Corden”) will direct the special program and will executive produce with Kevin Bright, Marta Kauffman and David Crane, executive producers of “Friends”.

Aniston, Cox, Kudrow, LeBlanc, Perry and Schwimmer will also be executive producers.
