Data sheet

Nokia relies heavily on nostalgia and is one of the few manufacturers that puts some emphasis on its basic phones, i.e. those that are not smartphones. The company recently announced two new models that, despite everything, are starting to adopt a lot of smartphone features available on the market.

The Nokia 6300 4G and 8000 4G run the KaiOS operating system and have a traditional design with a screen that divides the front space with the physical keyboard. But like any mobile phone nowadays, they have internet access, applications, and good hardware specs.

Both were expected since the beginning of the month and have now been made official. Meet the new models of the retro line at HMD / Nokia.

Nokia 6300 4G: relaunch in name only

Despite the name, the 6300 4G has little to do with the iconic 2007 Nokia mobile phone. The stainless steel plate look has not been reused, although it is still a beautiful device. Like the “predecessor”, the new model only has the power button on the top.

The phone has a 2.4-inch screen, a 1,500mAh removable battery – almost double the original model – and uses a micro USB connector for charging, which shouldn’t be a problem as the manufacturer calculates an average of 27 days of standby on one charge. Internally, the Nokia 6300 4G carries the Snapdragon 205, 512 MB of RAM and 4 GB of internal storage. To take pictures, a VGA camera is included in the package.

The device also features Wi-Fi connection, as well as supporting 4G, and a GPS port, Bluetooth, FM radio, headphone connector and space for two operator cards. In addition to the KaiOS system, the device already comes with YouTube, WhatsApp and Facebook installed, in addition to the Google Assistant.

Nokia 8000 4G: elegant design

The second model announced this week has a very elegant design for those who don’t insist on a smartphone, but still want a nice phone. The Nokia 8000 4G is elegant with a glass back. The screen is 2.8 inches, and uses a Snapdragon 210, 512 MB of RAM and 4 GB of storage, with a 1,500 mAh battery that can reach 28 days of standby time and can handle more than 3 hours of talk time in 4G.

If you like taking pictures, you have a 2MP camera on the Nokia 8000 4G, which still supports Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, FM radio, has a headphone jack and can be used with two operator cards. It also works on the KaiOS system with YouTube, Facebook and WhatsApp installed.

Prices and availability

The Nokia 6300 4G is available in three colors: light anthracite, white and cyan green, for 49 euros in Europe (around R $ 320, in direct conversion). The 8000 4G, in turn, can be bought in white, black, blue and gold for 79 euros (around R $ 510).

It is not expected to launch in Brazil. Nokia has an Anatel-approved “dumbphone”, the Nokia 110, which has not yet been officially announced here.
