The German magazine “Apotiken Omchau” reported that night sweats have many causes, some simple and others dangerous.
The health magazine explained that the simple causes of night sweats are inadequate sleeping conditions (related to room temperature, air humidity and bedding), eating spicy foods, smoking, drinking wine or psychological tension, fear and anxiety.
Additionally, night sweats can be due to serious causes such as inflammation of the inner layer of the heart, rheumatoid arthritis, hyperthyroidism, diabetes, tuberculosis, lymphoma, and leukemia.
Therefore, a doctor should be consulted in case of severe and frequent sweating episodes, especially if they are accompanied by other symptoms such as fever, pain and weight loss.
