A new study has revealed that most cases of “Covid-19” Corona in major American cities result from visits to a small group of locations.

The study, published in the journal Nature, said restaurants, gyms, hotels and places of worship are among the 10 percent of sites that appear to be responsible for 80 percent of injuries.

“These are smaller, more crowded places and people live there for a longer period,” study co-author and Stanford University professor Jory Leskovic said in a research briefing.

The professor said reducing the capacity of institutions to 20%, rather than closing them entirely, could reduce transmission by 80%.

The study, which included researchers from Northwestern University and Stanford, analyzed cell phone data from 98 million Americans in 10 major cities, including New York, Philadelphia, Washington DC, Los Angeles, Chicago and Houston.

The researchers tracked people’s movements to places like restaurants, cafes, grocery stores, gyms and hotels, as well as medical offices and places of worship, while looking at Coronavirus counts in their areas.

“On average, in metropolitan areas, full-service restaurants, gyms, hotels, cafes and limited-service restaurants produced the largest expected increase in fatalities when they reopened,” the study said.

Based on the research model, added Leskovic, “the infection occurs very irregularly.” There are about 10% of POIs, which account for more than 80% of all injuries, according to CNN.

The study indicated that residents of low-income areas suffer more because they have fewer of these sites available, and therefore the sites become more crowded.

However, CNN noted that the study did not track people at potentially high-population sites, such as schools, prisons, and nursing homes.
