The Series Ryzen 5000 (Zen 3) launched a few days ago, delivering great performance and value to all PC users. However, AMD doesn’t want to rest on its laurels and starts planning how the next series will be launched Ryzen 6000 based on Zen 4.
AMD Zen 4, 20% IPC improvements expected over Zen 3
The engineering team is doing the finishing touches Zen 4 and they promise great performance improvements over what we have today Zen 3 and the series Ryzen 5000.
The vice president of AMD, Rick Bergman, was commenting on a few things about Zen 4 in a recent interview, where he assured him the performance improvements of the IPC had to be very similar to those obtained by Zen 3 compared to Zen 2. This means we could see CPI improvements close to 20%.
AMD’s Zen 4 processors, possibly Ryzen 6000, are expected to launch in early 2022 with a new 5nm node. With this launch window, AMD would complete its launch cycle of a new generation of processors every 12 to 18 months.

Apparently, AMD will focus its efforts on improving or tweaking the Zen architecture to its limits, but it will not increase the number of cores it currently offers, i.e. a maximum of 16 cores as it already does with its Ryzen 9 5950X.
The Zen 4 processors are expected to use a new socket to replace the AM4 platform, which debuted in 2017. For the Zen 3 generation, AMD has yet to announce the corresponding notebook processors and the new Threadripper for workstations. We will keep you informed.
