It all started with a YouTube video of Nandi Bushell playing drums for the Foo Fighters song “Everlong”. He posted the video on Twitter and wrote that one day it was his dream to play with the Foo Fighters. He also challenged Grohl to a drum battle.

Grohl accepted the challenge and even released a video in which he first played “Everlong” and then challenged Bushell to play the song “Dead End Friends” by “Them Crooked Vultures”, a former Grohls band. The ten-year-old was not asked twice and not only performed the proposed song but also mimicked Grohl’s movements when challenged.

In his response clip, Grohl not only congratulated the young drummer on her victory, but also played a song specially designed for her. Grohl not only sang in this, the “Grohlettes”, the musician’s three daughters, performed in the Backgrund.

Now the temporary climax of the battle, which has now become more of an Internet friendship: During a video link organized by the New York Times, Grohl invited Bushell to play with the band on the stage of the next concert in Britain. But it has to be towards the end of the show, or else Bushell would steal the show from the band, Grohl said. The two also decided to record a song together.
