Sean Connery’s widow, Micheline Roquebrune, faces imprisonment and a € 23.4 million fine for alleged tax fraud in Spain.
The late actor’s wife, Micheline Roquebrune, however, he denies any involvement in an alleged fraud in the sale of the house in Marbella, Spain, which belonged to the family.
Sean Connery died on October 31, and despite his recent death, his widow will be officially summoned for these charges, reports The Sun.
The Spanish judicial authorities want to sue the actor’s wife, but for this he had to inform her first. They are talking “A lack of cooperation” of the Bahamian authorities, where the great actor died, and his wife is currently there.
“Official requests have been sent twice to the Bahamas to notify Micheline of the indictment and trial against her, but Spanish officials have not yet received a response.” said a source for The Sun.
The house in question was sold in 1999 and was demolished to make way for a complex of 70 apartments, despite the rule that only five buildings of this type could be built. Sean Connery reportedly told his wife in 2004 that he would not be tried in the case, the source said.
The plaintiff’s lawyers, the mayor of Marbella and six councilors were jailed for fraud.
A judge ruled that Micheline, born in France, should be tried in this case.
Sean Connery’s widow called the allegations “nonsense”.
