The coronavirus has changed life as we know it and, after three months’ forced self-isolation earlier this year, the UK government set up a second 4-week block. The precautionary guidelines are in effect from Thursday 5th November to Wednesday 2nd December to control the epidemic.
And just like last time, royal family members aren’t exempt. But nevertheless, los Mountbatten-Windsor they made an exception over the weekend, with effect to commemorate Memorial Day. The royal family typically honors the day by joining political leaders, world war veterans and members of the military for a service and a crown at the foot of the Cenotaph memorial.
However, this year, as with all proceedings, the event was curtailed with social distancing rules in place. As the queen went to the Buckingham Palace for the event and joined the royal family members as usual to watch events from a balcony at Buckingham Palace, people were surprised it wasn’t close to the Duchess of Cambridge and Duchess of Cornwall as usual. . Usually the monarch comes among the duchesses, but this weekend due to social distancing and to take the utmost care of them (especially Kate for her children), only two people were allowed on each balcony, separated by two meters .
