Last week, November 2-8, the Regional Health Authority identified only five new cases of dengue. But the imminent return of summer and favorable weather conditions raise fears of a “new epidemic wave”, warns the ARS.
From 2 to 8 November, five cases were reported to the ARS. Although the number of cases has stabilized for a few weeks between 5 and 10 cases per week, the virus continues to circulate on the island. With the upcoming return of summer and weather conditions favorable to the development of mosquitoes, a new epidemic wave remains to be feared in the coming months, as part of the covid-19 epidemic.
The prefecture and the ARS recommend maximum vigilance to the population and recall the importance of implementing preventive measures to protect themselves and those close to them from dengue.

Cases were reported from 2 to 8 November in the following municipalities:
- The port
- The oars
- St. Paul
- Sainte Marie
- Saint-Benoit
No grouping of cases has been identified in the territory.
ARS vector control teams are continuing mosquito control interventions day and night, applying barrier measures against the spread of covid-19.
Recommendations for fighting dengue fever:
- Protect yourself and those around you from mosquito bites (repellents, mosquito nets, long clothes, diffusers)
- Eliminate Breeding Sites: Empty anything that can hold water around your home
- Consult a doctor in case of symptoms: fever, headache, muscle / joint pain, nausea, vomiting, fatigue, etc.
These protective measures also apply to people who have already contracted dengue fever.
