A new study from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine has uncovered the potential effects “Covid-19” can have on male fertility and sexually transmitted diseases.
The researchers examined the autopsy tissues of six men who died of “Covid-19” infection and found that the virus was still in their testicles.
They also found “Covid-19” in the testicles of a 28-year-old patient, who was infected with the Coronavirus and recovered without symptoms.
Dr Ranjith Ramasamy, associate professor and director of the department of urology and reproduction at Miller College, said: “We also identified the presence of the virus in a man who underwent a testicular biopsy due to infertility but had a previous history with “Covid-19”. So the patient’s test result was negative and he showed no symptoms after “Covid-19” infection, but the virus still appears inside the testicles. The result is new and wonderful and it certainly deserves further study “.

The study continued to question how much virus it takes to be present in the testes, to be detected in sperm, and which of them could be transmitted through sexual contact.
“I am absolutely sure that around 20-30% of men will be suffering from some kind of fertility problem in their future,” Ramasamy said.
More research is needed to fully understand how testicular tissue responds to “Covid-19,” but this current study is a step forward in understanding the virus.
And Dr. Ramasamy recommended that men of all ages who have contracted “Covid-19” and who are suffering from testicular pain see a urologist.
He also explained: “Testicular pain in addition to other symptoms could be a sign of” Covid-19 “infiltration into the testicle, and if men are thinking about fertility and / or low testosterone, either at the time or in the future, they have to evaluate hormone levels. They have testosterone in their blood and sperm parameters determined through sperm analysis. “
