T.In recent days, a video on social media has gone viral reaction of a person with Alzheimer’s listening to music from their past. The images were shared by a charity and show the power of music in the memory of people with dementia.
The video shows Marta C. Gonzalez, who was the ‘prima ballerina’ in the New York Ballet group in the 1960s, reacting to Tchaikovsky’s ‘Swan Lake’ audition, a song she performed countless times in her youth.
The emotional moment was shared by the Music to Awakening association, a charity that uses music that has been part of the lives of Alzheimer’s patients to improve their mood and memory.
“One of the most exciting moments we live in Music for Awakening. Being able to listen to this immense work of art with a person who danced it and was a fundamental part of its story. The power of music is immeasurable. Thanks to life” , wrote the association in the caption of the video, published on social networks at the end of October.
In the images, Marta C. Gonzalez reacts with emotion to the music and begins to replicate the movements of the choreography, of memory, a moment that is made more exciting if mounted together with the images of Marta dancing, several years ago.
