They inherit the Star Wars toys from a neighbor and almost throw them away (but the collection turns out to cost half a million dollars)

A British couple inherited a collection of Star Wars toys, figurines and comics from a neighbor. For a long time the new owners thought it was junk, but before throwing it all away they decided to invite an appraiser, who revealed the real value of the items, reports The Times.

Retirees from the English town of Stourbridge, who preferred to remain anonymous, were initially unsure what to do with the jumble of dolls and spaceships they his neighbor had spent decades collecting. The elders considered the gift useless, put their things in garbage bags and put them in a garage.

However, this year the couple decided to try their luck and the son called in appraiser Chris Aston to evaluate the collection. And much to the surprise of retirees, the expert ensured that this “treasure” of Star Wars memories, including the still flawless action figures in their sealed packaging, is a real treasure.

“A lot of them were a little damp because of how they were stored, but overall it’s the best Star Wars collection I’ve ever seen,” said Chris Aston, of Aston’s Auctioneers auction house.

The appraiser helped the couple organize a toy auction. And as a result, all items sold managed to add 410,000 pounds ($ 525,000).

Aston noted that this was their best sale in 15 years, adding that the pair should be “happy” with the gain. “I don’t know if they have specific plans, but they must feel like they’ve won the lottery,” the expert said.
