Whenever possible, let’s talk about the benefits of backward compatibility. It has already been more than proven that Microsoft is unrivaled in this area. A refined show that has burned the coffers of Americans given the investment they had to make to keep the games of the past alive.
Compatibility with previous versions of the Xbox Series is the most complete today. And it’s not because it has more games available; but because it adds native enhancements to games like resolution upscaling or Auto HDR. Plus, it has better load times than its more direct rival.
Dark Souls 3 at 30fps on Xbox Series X due to a patch
However, there are special cases like Dark Souls 3 where it performs better on the Sony console. So much so that it does it at 60 frames per second while on Xbox Series X it is limited to 30 frames per second. In both cases the framerate is stable as revealed by Digital Foundry.
But be careful because it has a trap. This happens because for PS4 Pro, From Software and Bandai Namco have released a patch that unlocked the framerate. But for some unknown reason, this patch wasn’t released for Xbox One X, so Xbox Series X can’t run the game at that frame rate per second as it’s locked by the game itself.
So this “rare review” which is Dark Souls 3 will remain as a more attractive game on Playstation 5 as today it doesn’t seem like both From Software and Activision want to release this patch.
