Steffen Henssler cancels the TV show: it costs him the victory
That this show would not have been like the “Grill den Henssler” programs before it was already predictable when Steffen Henssler entered the Koch-Arena. Limping and with a twisted face, he came to the host Laura Wontorra. What happened? The television chef had suffered a sports injury shortly before the recording and was recovering from MRI. A nerve in the lower back was attacked, Henssler reported.
The incident has already made the rounds when the show was taped in September. At the time, Vox announced that the TV chef had taken care of a replacement. And so Detlef Steves competed against celebrities on Sunday night. He would have preferred to do without Tim Mälzer, because “I want to win”, Henssler sounded great. And so he was alongside his cooking apprentice with advice and actions – within his means.
Micky Beisenherz forgets an important ingredient
And it didn’t look bad at all. It did extraordinarily well against Micky Beisenherz, Lilly Becker and Ralf Moeller. However, this was partly due to the mistakes made by the challengers. Micky Beisenherz forgot the essential frikeh on the plate with the starter: he was supposed to prepare the Israeli dish “Frikeh with artichokes”. Although what ended up on the plate was very well received by overly critical juror Christian Rach, he declined the rating – zero points.
Ralf Moeller was also well cooked for the main course. How much of it Detlef Steves earned remains to be seen. Because what the “Hott oder Schrott” star really manages to do in the kitchen was shown in the dessert. He had to contest it without Henssler. He could barely stand up and had to interrupt the broadcast just before the destination. “I really can’t anymore,” the Henssler moaned, gave his assistant cook some final advice on the street and limped with the words “You wet those over there, do you understand me?” from the stage.

“We made it”commented Laura Wontorra, a little satisfied. Henssler’s victory was also over, because what Detlef Steves achieved next was more than a catastrophe.
Detlef Steves: “Steffen is killing me!”
Small pancakes with cactus and mango fruits should be cooked. It sounds relatively simple, but it has its pitfalls. At least if you can’t tell the salt from the sugar. And that was exactly what became Detlef Steves’ downfall. Three minutes before the time ran out, he was horrified to see: Pancakes don’t taste sweet! “Fuck, Steffen is killing me!”, he complained.
Even Laura Wontorra only said “Wooow” after trying it. “It’s so salty,” he confirmed with a cough and tears in his eyes. Where does the salt come from? Steve was perplexed. The dough itself tasted sweet. At least one celebrates the misstep: contestant Lilly Becker.
So Detlef Steves could only hope that the jurors might have lost their sense of taste. But it wasn’t like that. Rachel was so disgusted that she spat it all out on the plate and initially assumed it was a joke:
Zero points for Henssler’s assistant cook
Unfortunately no… Mirja Boes could only say “what is that ?!” pass and Reiner Calmund has already reached the tip of his tongue to know this is not worth a point. Rachel’s apt analysis: “Sugar confused with salt”.

There wasn’t much time to think about the evaluation: zero points for the creation of Detlef Steves. “I’m sorry, I don’t need to comment. It can be canceled right away. He’s disqualified. How disgusting.”, hence Rach’s harsh judgment. The allocation of points to the “Grill den Henssler” has never been so clear: 19 points to zero.
In the end, the overly salty pancake actually secured the celebrity victory. They grilled Steffen Henssler and his assistant cook with a single point advantage. What does the TV chef say about the defeat? Not clear. But he’ll probably have to teach Detlef Steves a few more lessons.
