- YB and St. Gallen split in the 7th round of the Super League in a fun 0-0 match.
- The Bernese are the top team, but they are remiss with their many possibilities.
- The former st. Gallen’s Silvan Hefti fails in the second half with a long-range shot on the crossbar.
- The St. Gallen remain winless for the fourth consecutive league game.
The best match against St. Gallen clarified once again why Young Boys have only scored 5 goals in 6 games this season. The Bernese were almost negligent with their chances in the 0-0 win at Wankdorf.
YB must take the lead after 45 minutes
Only in the 1st half did he give YB 5 first-rate chances to take the lead. Christian Fassnacht headed two times too many, Meschak Elia failed to overtake St. Gallen goalkeeper Lawrence Ati Zigi, Silvan Hefti’s long-range shot managed to direct Zigi over the crossbar and just before half-time the goalkeeper FCSG miraculously defused a header from Cédric Zesiger.
However, Hefti and Nicolas Ngamaleu missed out on YB’s best opportunities in the second half:
- 61. Minute: Hefti is played by Fassnacht, the former St. Galler throws a half volley and hits the crossbar with his bullet.
- 67. Minute: Jean-Pierre Nsame refueled on the right side of the baseline and hung up perfectly for Ngamaleu. But he manages to throw the ball from 3 meters over the empty goal.
The YB loses the leadership in the league against Lugano
And St. Gallen? The East Swiss were able to put individual needles, but were mainly busy with defensive work. After the last two losses in a row, Peter Zeidler’s team can be happy to have stopped this downward spiral. However, FCSG expected a 4-game win.
The YB, on the other hand, must give the leadership in the league to Lugano after losing points. After the 3rd draw in the 6th game, the Bernese now have the same number of points in their own account as the still unbeaten Ticino (12).
