SoftwareMost websites have security certificates that certify that user data is protected (passwords, credit cards, etc.).
These security certificates are issued by authorities in the field, and Let’s Encrypt is one of the best-known names in the industry. They sent a warning that Android smartphones with older versions of Android 7.1.1 Nougat lose their right to access certain sites from September 1, 2021 (in fact, they will be greeted with a warning message).
What do I find interesting?
Let’s Encrypt claims that 33.8% of Android users are using versions prior to 7.1.
33.8%?
It seems like a huge value to me. This is because we are talking about cell phones launched at least 3-4 years ago. In fact, Samsung & co has only recently started promising 3 years of updates, most cheap smartphones get stuck with the software they were bought with. I hardly get firmware updates and that’s when there are big bugs or who knows what security escapes.
33.8% seems like a great value to me. I don’t think 1/3 of Android smartphones are + 4-5 years old.
