There are already a few days left until Apple’s third (third!) Autumn event, in which we can practically confirm that we will see the first Mac with Apple Silicon chip. The rumors and the first leaked data circulate with intensity referring to the models that we can see, but they all have a common denominator: the first thing we will see will be portable.
But which laptops can we see? We talk about various sizes and ranges, so we’ll take advantage of this Sunday’s Rumorsfera to take a look at what to expect on Tuesday afternoon. Spoiler: it will be the sea of fun and I have no doubt that the development of what is presented to us will not leave anyone indifferent.
Laptops with Apple Silicon: the chip will change first, then the design
Most likely according to all the sources that have filtered the content is what we see a new MacBook Air and a MacBook Pro. The design of both laptops will remain the same or very similar to the current one, we will simply go from having an Intel chip to an Apple Silicon chip with all the benefits that this brings. The size of your screens will therefore remain the same: 13 inches. Those two Macs have all presiding votes for Tuesday’s event.
On the other hand we also have a slightly more remote chance to see a 16-inch MacBook Pro with Apple Silicon chip. Again: same screen size as the predecessor, same design, the only thing that would change is the interior. Its production and launch would be set for later, but leakers think we can see it introduced.
Finally, and now for until 2021, Apple will present and launch new designs for your laptops. In the same way that the 15-inch MacBook Pro became a 16-inch, the 13-inch model will become a 14. The design will also change and the display panels will be miniLEDs.
Little chance of seeing a desktop
Although it is not something completely excluded, rumors increasingly miss the opportunity to see the first desktop Macs with Apple Silicon. Not long ago he commented on how Apple had barely touched the Mac mini and 21.5-inch iMac in the latest update, which made us think the company was already preparing the gap for Apple Silicon versions of those. same computers; but apparently we will have to wait until 2021 to see them.
In any case, hope is not entirely lost: Apple wouldn’t hurt to launch their chips in the portable and desktop ranges to cover all needs, even in the early versions that offer lower performance. And the company has already done some of the work with the Mac mini, as developers have been working with one of those teams with the A12Z chip for months.
