Good news for video game fans: Developer Epic Games’ popular Fortnite video game may soon be available again on iPhone, according to a BBC report on Friday night.
Based on this, the American company Nvidia has developed a version of its cloud system “Geforce Now”, through which Fortnite will in the future also be playable on Apple’s Safari browser.
Fortnite has not been available in the app store for iPhone users since August. In the background a dispute over the distribution of profits: according to this Epic Games would have wanted to circumvent the commission to Apple with a technical trick being updated. Apple charges 30 percent of the revenue generated by app makers on the company’s platforms.
Fortnite can currently already be played on the Apple Macbook via Nvidia’s cloud system. According to the BBC report, Nvidia could offer Fortnite on its platform before the start of the winter holidays, thus making the game accessible to iPhone owners.
Nvidia did not want to confirm the report. There is no comment on possible new customers, a company spokesperson said. Epic Games also declined to comment.
