Google has its own photo editing and enhancement tool built into Android: Google Photos. On the one hand it is a method to have our images always at hand in the cloud, but also an increasingly complete editor thanks to the various improvements it is getting. News such as those revealed by the analysis of the latest APK.
And it seems that Google’s tool is preparing a number of utilities that will soon arrive for a certain group of users. This is what emerges from the analysis of the APK that proves it not everyone will have access to these improvements– May only be accessible to subscribers to a Google One payment plan.
Improvements but for premium users only
Indications that came to light in March, when it revealed the analysis of the 4.45 version of the Google Photos APK exclusive features for Google One users, something that, as they have in XDA Developers, is confirmed by analyzing the code of the current version 5.18.
And if there was no news in March of what enhancements might be exclusive, the most recent version of Photos seems to remove the mystery. To appear various messages inviting the user to switch to using a subscription system in Google One. These are the messages the code reveals:
- “As a member of Google One, you have access to additional editing features”
- “Get additional editing features with a Google One subscription”
- “Unlock this feature and more with a Google One subscription”
- “Unlock more editing features and amount of storage with a Google One subscription.”
Along with the notice about the existence of exclusive features for users of a Google One paid plan, there are three types of image processing: Dynamic, HDR and Vivid.
It’s unclear whether these improvements will only benefit subscribers to a Google One storage plan. Also, the apk analysis reveals new filters (Afterglow, Airy, Ember, Luminous, Radiant y Stormy) for the improvement of the sky that appears in the photos, filters hitherto unknown.
The truth is that this possibility is reminiscent of the MIUI tool it allows change and edit the photo sky, something Adobe also introduced in the 2021 version of its popular Photoshop photo suite.
It remains to be seen whether these improvements finally come they end up arriving selectively and when they are enabled in an upcoming Google Photos update.
