‘I was not impressed’: Frank Lampard insists he was not ‘surprised’ by Jose Mourinho’s claim that “some Chelsea players” dive as Tottenham boss defended Harry Kane by winning a penalty against Brighton last year weekend

Frank Lampard says he is not “surprised” by Jose Mourinho’s referral to referees of “some Chelsea players” to win penalties this week.

Tottenham boss Mourinho was speaking in defense of star Harry Kane after he won a controversial penalty against Brighton in last weekend’s 2-1 win.

But Chelsea manager Lampard, who already shook horns with his former Portuguese manager during an EFL Cup draw in September, defended his players and insisted the criticism “didn’t hit him”.

Lampard was replying after Mourinho’s comments: “Kane? I think you’re confused.

Lampard says he is “not surprised” by Mourinho who says “some Chelsea players dive”

‘There have been no diving incidents at Chelsea this season that I have seen.

‘I’m not going to tell Jose or any other manager how to hold a press conference.

Indeed, Chelsea have already had eight penalties this season but Lampard insisted none of them were for diving.

The Chelsea manager changed his penalty last week, with the summer takeover of Timo Werner replacing Jorginho after the midfielder missed two in a row.

The German forward converted two penalties for Chelsea in Wednesday’s 3-0 win over Rennes in the Champions League.
