Five monkeys were found dead in Coronel Domingos Soares and Mangueirinha, in Paraná. The suspicion is that the animals died of yellow fever.

One of the monkeys was sent to the Central Laboratory of the State of Paraná (Lacen) for an examination to be carried out to indicate whether the dead animal was contaminated with the disease or not.

The 7th Regional Health Department has warned residents that when they find dead monkeys, they communicate the health surveillance of the municipality.

According to the regional, the animals serve as signs of the disease, allowing health agencies to reinforce the importance of immunization with local residents. Regional still recommends qthat the population does not kill monkeys, as they act as protection, ensuring that the mosquitoes responsible for transmitting yellow fever remain in the forest and do not seek residents in the urban area.
