Remedy Entertainment reported that it takes a little more time to deliver “incredible final quality”
Remedy Entertainment had originally planned to release an optimized version of Control Ultimate Edition for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X later this year. However, the wait to explore Oldest House in all its next-generation glory will have to be a little longer. The launch window has been postponed to early 2021.
“We want the final quality of the game to be incredible and so we need a little more time to work on it,” Remedy said in a tweet. “Thanks for your understanding and patience!”
The study received some criticism when it revealed that there was no next-generation upgrade path for the standard edition of Control.

While those who have purchased one of the versions of the game on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One will be able to play it on upcoming consoles thanks to backward compatibility, 505 Games has confirmed that only Control: Ultimate Edition will receive the next generation update.
The Ultimate Edition includes the base game along with all expansions. It’s currently available for PS4 and Xbox One, and Remedy is offering a free update on PS5 and Xbox Series X, as has become commonplace.
The delay can come like a punch in the stomach for fans who bought Control: Ultimate Edition prior to the update after enjoying the standard version.
Interestingly, there is a console on which you can now play Control: Ultimate Edition and take advantage of updated visuals via Ray Tracing. Remedy released a cloud version of the game on the Nintendo Switch last month.

The only way to get Control to work on this console is through a reliable internet connection, but it looks like Switch players will have access to a more advanced version than those on the PS5 or Xbox Series X for now.
