Warner Bros. apologizes for the physical descriptions of the witches in the new movie “The Witches”. The film is the latest adaptation of Roald Dahl’s book and features witches as easily recognizable by the lack of fingers.
Lack of fingers is medically called ectrodactyly. Many people suffering from this malformation, including TV presenter Alex Brooker, have harshly criticized the choice of producers. In Dahl’s novel, witches have claws that make them scary, no shortage of fingers.
On social networks, people with malformed limbs have posted photos with the hashtag “I’m not a witch” – “I’m not a witch”
Warner Bros. apologized, saying it was “deeply saddened to learn that the description of the fictional characters in the film could upset people with disabilities.” They also said the film is about kindness and friendship.
