Manchester United have spent nearly £ 33m on sacking managers since Sir Alex Ferguson left the club in 2013.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s future at Old Trafford has been questioned after new reports surfaced that Ed Woodward has again approached Mauricio Pochettino to become the new United manager.
It was no coincidence that Pochettino also appeared in Monday Night Football.
Solskjaer would be the club’s fourth managerial victim since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013.
Early termination of contracts is not cheap.
The layoffs of David Moyes, Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho cost Manchester United a combined total of £ 32.9 million, according to the club’s accounts.

United paid 4.9 million pounds when David Moyes received his P45 in 2014, although the accounts do not specify how much of this went to Moyes himself.
Louis van Gaal’s departure cost the club £ 8.4m.
The biggest win, however, came after José Mourinho was fired: £ 19.6 million.

Mourinho, of course, is no stranger to big gains.
His two spells at Chelsea both ended prematurely and cost the club £ 23m the first time and £ 8.3m the second time.
In fact, Roman Abramovich has spent a staggering £ 94.6 million on firing managers, according to the club’s accounts.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer may have lost Jadon Sancho in the summer, but he still made some big moves in the market with Donny van de Beek, Alex Telles and Edinson Cavani on the way.
But their start to the season was a mixed bag, with a home defeat to Crystal Palace and a 6-1 defeat by Spurs at one end of the scale, and a stunning 2-1 win over PSG in Paris on the other.

The question at Old Trafford now is: when will Solskjaer follow?
Moyes, now in charge at West Ham, warned on Friday: “All managers are under pressure at various levels.
“Manchester United probably have more pressure than any club in the world, and that comes with the job.
“We all know exactly what happens if we don’t win enough games.”
