As the first member of the British royal family, Duchess Meghan is said to have cast her vote in a presidential election in the United States. Numerous US media reported the 39-year-old’s vote, and the German news agency received official confirmation. How and for whom Meghan had originally voted was not known. The Duchess is considered a sharp critic of incumbent United States President Donald Trump.
Previously, Meghan had repeatedly asked those who were eligible to vote in the United States to cast their vote. The presidential election in the United States, in which Trump as Republican clashed with Democratic challenger Joe Biden, had not yet produced a final result on Wednesday, many hours after the last polling stations closed.
Meghan was born in 1981 in the US state of California. In 2018 she married Prince Harry (36) and became a member of the British royal family. The couple split from the royal family in March and have been living in California with their one-year-old son Archie for a few months.
Members of the royal family traditionally do not vote in Britain; but there is no law on that. Queen Elizabeth II is politically neutral.
