The number of dengue deaths from August rises to five – EVERY DAY

The bi-weekly dengue bulletin released Wednesday (4) by the State Department of Health records the total of 852 confirmed cases in the current epidemiological period, which began in August. There are four more cases than the previous report, which presented 848 confirmations.

Two new deaths were also recorded. There are currently 5 deaths caused by dengue in the period. The deaths occurred in Foz do Iguaçu (male, 74, without comorbidities) and in Londrina (male, 45, without comorbidities).

According to data from the bulletin, 144 cities in Paraná have confirmed cases of dengue. The total number of reported cases is 8,265. Regarding Chikungunya, the bulletin contains 31 notifications in Paraná and two indigenous cases confirmed in the municipality of Londrina. There are 14 notifications for the Zíka virus.

The Secretariat of Health has already started the implementation of the actions foreseen in the Plan to Combat Dengue for 2020/2021, focusing on the integration of the Primary Care, Urgency and Emergency and Surveillance areas.

The integration of professional areas for monitoring, diagnosis and clinical management was discussed at a national technical meeting, held at the end of last week, in Maringá, when the State Secretariat discussed the State Plan to combat dengue with the Ministry of Health, Pan-American Organization. Americana de Saúde, Secretaries of the National Council of Health, Municipal Secretariat of Health of Paraná and municipal leaders. Both the Ministry of Health and the other participating institutions have confirmed their support for the State Coping Plan.

“The state government will spare no effort in dealing with dengue. Even in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic, we are attentive, concerned and are developing new strategies to combat dengue, the zika virus and chikungunya ”, said Health Secretary Beto Preto.

Meetings have already been held in the micro-regions of Colorado, Iguaraçu, Sarandi, Doutor Camargo and Nova Esperança, with the participation of professionals working in the forefront of healthcare in over 24 municipalities: Itaguajé, Santa Inês, Santo Inácio, Nossa Senhora das Graças, Lobato , Parancity, Atalaia, Floraí, Ourizona, Presidente Castelo Branco, São Jorge do Ivaí, Uniflor, Mandaguari, Marialva, Paiçandu, Ivatuba, Itambé, Floresta, Mandaguaçu, Astorga, Ângulo, Florida, Munhoz de Melo and Santa Fé.

The Action Plan recommends measures for the prevention, control and identification of viral circulation; in addition to alignment, training and professional updating. The goal is that all those involved in the process of welcoming and treating the infected patient work in an integrated, agile and efficient way.

“Our work starts from the premise of the regionalization of Health proposed by the administration of Governor Ratinho Junior,” said the secretary. We are rationalizing the services and qualifying the service close to the citizen’s home, so the actions to tackle dengue together will also take place ”, he explained.

At the same time as the micro-regional meetings, the Secretariat of Health promotes a series of six web conferences also aimed at professionals involved in the treatment of dengue.

The first was last week, another happens this Wednesday and there will be another, on the 11th, with a focus for Community Health Agents and Community Agents of Endemics, on clinical management of dengue.

The second phase of the cycle will take place on 19 and 26 November and 3 December, aimed at urgent and emergency professionals with the topics, risk classification, diagnosis, staging and clinical management.

Prevention

Secretary Beto Preto also stressed that in addition to the measures being implemented by the Action Plan, the control of dengue requires the participation of the population. “We need the support of every paranense in removing breeding sites in homes. More than 90% of Aedes aegypti mosquito outbreaks are found in the home environment, in places that accumulate water. The main recommendation is to eliminate these breeding sites, ”emphasizes Beto Preto.
