Representatives from Roche Farma presented their commitment to biomedical innovation and the development of the medicine of the future to the Innovation Committee of the Institute for Health Development and Integration Foundation (IDIS).
During the meeting, the importance of continuing to improve from and for the patient was also highlighted and of showing everything that the different hospitals do in a perspective of responsible innovation that covers not only the technological aspect, but must be extended also to the areas of management and quality and safety of procedures.

There, the strategic lines of the new therapeutic areas of Roche Farma were also presented, as well as the company’s initiatives to promote health projects and enhance the humanization carried out by various hospitals.
In relation to the future in the new therapeutic areas, from a medical point of view, the importance of betting on personalized medicine was highlighted to offer assistance adapted to the specific profile of each patient, which helps to prevent, diagnose and treat in the same way. the patients. in the most effective and accurate way possible. According to Roche, the future is to increasingly tailor medical care to the needs of each person.
In this sense, the company’s role in emerging therapeutic areas for Roche such as immunology (including its “pipeline” in inflammatory bowel disease), ophthalmology, among others, was highlighted.
The Covid-19 pathology also played a leading role during the meeting, since, as pointed out by the representative of the Roche Farma Medical Department, the company has so far promoted five international clinical trials involving three of its own molecules, with the participation of about 1,500 patients.
In an effort to add value to the healthcare system and patients, Roche representatives presented ‘Zinkinn’, a platform focused on giving visibility and promoting innovative healthcare projects created by each hospital and healthcare center with the aim of improving health, quality of life or processes and procedures, taking into account the patient and his environment.
Another of the projects presented at the meeting was the “Human Hospitals” initiative, which aims to show, through a documentary, the humanization programs that are taking place in each center. Specifically, during the session, several projects were presented at the Miguel Servet University Hospital, such as the one that aimed to provide emotional support to patients during the first wave of Covid, or the story of Theo, a child born prematurely in the aforementioned hospital. . , who have autism.
Through the video the goal is to give visibility to the needs of these children and at the same time pay homage to their parents and to other people who, like them, can go through complex situations.
