The scripts for Netflix’s latest season of Lucifer have been finalized, as the show’s writing team officially splits.
Initially slated to end with Lucifer’s fifth season, the streaming service restarted the show for an additional series earlier this year, which is currently filming.
Now, it looks like the epic finale is set in stone, as revealed by co-showrunner Ildy Modrovich in a tweet, which features the 18 writers greeting fans of the show (via a remote Zoom call, of course).
“The last day in the Lucifer Writer’s Room,” Modrovich said. “These people inspire me beyond words. How is it possible that a heart can feel so full and break at the same time? “

Previously, co-showrunner Joe Henderson teased big things in store for fans in season six, revealing that the extended episode count allows them to expand the reach of their story.
He told EW.com: “It’s the story we would always tell, but it was written much bigger and for me [is now] so much more interesting that it breaks my heart to think we weren’t [originally] I’ll do it this way. “
Meanwhile, fans are still waiting for the second half of Lucifer’s fifth season, which sees the eponymous Lord of Hell clash with his devious identical twin.
Lucifer’s brother isn’t the only celestial one to cause havoc on Earth, as the midseason finale also saw Dennis Haysbert’s God descend from heaven to intervene in his children’s conflict.
Suffice it to say we have a lot of questions about Lucifer in the second half of the season, which is due out next year.
