Disguising those who thought AMD was sleeping in the shade of the banana tree after Nvidia launched its powerful RTX 3070, RTX 3080 and RTX 3090 graphics.
But the manufacturer has finally introduced its new RX 6800, RX 6800 XT and RX 6900 XT graphics cards and, due to its features, Nvidia officially has a competitor to match.
The new graphics cards from AMD have arrived
After several rumors, AMD has now unveiled its new Radeon RX 6800, RX 6800 XT and RX 6900 XT graphics cards to the world. The presentation was made during an online event with live broadcast from official AMD channels, such as YouTube.
The new GPUs are a real answer to the graphics cards recently launched by Nvidia, especially the RX 6800 XT which will be a direct competitor of the RTX 3080.
Radeon RX 6800, RX 6800 XT and RX 6900 XT
The simplest card of all announced is the Radeon RX 6800 which uses a Navi 21 XL GPU. This graphics will then compete with Nvidia's base model, the GeForce RTX 3070 or even the RTX 2080 Ti. This model from AMD is equipped with 60 compute units, a base clock of 1815 MHz, a boost clock of 1205 MHz, 16.17 teraflops and 16 GB of GDDR6 memory.
Then you can see the comparison between the RX 6800 and the RTX 2080 Ti.
This GPU consumes 250 watts of power, which is 10 times less than Nvidia's RTX 2080 Tu Founders Edition. The RX 6800 will cost $ 579 (~ 493 Euros) and will be available on November 18.
Me and RX 6800 XT brings with it a more powerful GPU, the Navi 21 XT and could be a direct competitor of the RTX 3080, which is one of Nvidia's most promising graphics cards. In terms of memory, the graphics carry 16GB of GDDR6 and, according to AMD, is capable of outperforming the RTX 3080 in several computer games, with either 4k or 1440p resolution, achieving even lower power consumption. It offers a base clock of 2015 MHz, a boost clock of 2250 MHz, 20.74 teraflops of performance and 72 compute units.
The following graphic from AMD compares the RX 6800 XT to the RTX 3080.
The price of this card will be $ 649 (~ 553 Euros) and will also be available on November 18th.
In turn, the top of the range is the RX 6900 XT, powered by the Navi 21 XTX GPU, which is therefore AMD's most powerful. This card will then be the one that will play in the same elite league as Nvidia's RTX 3090. It brings 16GB of GDDR6 memory and achieves powerful performance, but with less power, at a much lower value than the RTX 3090.
This model has 80 compute units, has 23.04 teraflops, but the base clock remains at 2015 MHz and can increase up to 2250 MHz.
See the comparison between the RX 6900 XT and the rival RTX 3090.
The RX 6900 XT will cost $ 999 (~ 851 Euros) and will hit the market on December 8th.
All three models are based on the RDNA 2 architecture, the latest technology from AMD, which is therefore also found on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. They also feature a traditional 2.5-slot design, with PCIe and a triple system ventilation to cool the plates.
But if you have not followed the presentation of these signs live, now you can see in the following video:
