Despite its colorful name, the astronomical event has nothing to do with the hue of the Earth’s natural satellite.
On October 31, when many countries celebrate Halloween, the rare cosmic phenomenon known as the “blue moon” can be observed at night. According to astronomers, it will take 19 years for this event, which repeats every 2.5 years, to coincide with this holiday again.
Despite the name, the astronomical event has nothing to do with the hue of the natural satellite as perceived by the Earth. In fact, the name “blue moon”, or “blue moon” in English, is only used to designate a second full moon in the same month.
In this case, the first full moon of October occurred on day 1, and since this month has 31 days and the lunar cycle is 29.5, another “ full moon ” will be launched this weekend.
The last time this cosmic phenomenon occurred was in 2018 and it is estimated that until 2023 it will not happen again.
