Due to the new type of coronavirus pandemic affecting the whole world, the number of deaths and cases is increasing day by day. However, there are still no effective drugs or vaccines that can cure or protect people against Kovid-19. A new study by US scientists revealed that the easy-to-access and inexpensive drug Aspirin reduced the risk of death of new types of hospitalized coronavirus patients by about 50%.
Scientists from Maryland Medical School in the United States have announced that the drug may help in the treatment of coronavirus patients around the world.
EASY TO ACCESS AND ECONOMIC
Aspirin has a wide range of usage rates from the common cold to rheumatism, abdominal pain to heart disease treatments. The drug is also available in many parts of the world and is very cheap.
412 PATIENTS EXAMINED
The researchers looked at 412 Kovid-19 patients as part of their study. 80 milligrams of aspirin was administered daily to a quarter of patients from the first day of hospitalization.
RISK OF DEATH REDUCED BY 47 PERCENTAGE
According to the results of the study published in the scientific journal “Anesthesia and Analgesia”, it was stated that patients who had been given aspirin were taken to intensive care 43% less than others and needed 40% less of fans.
However, the scientists said that patients who took aspirin had a 47% lower risk of death than those who did not.
IT CAN BE CONVERTED INTO THE MOST EFFECTIVE DRUG USED AGAINST CORONAVIRUS
Study author Dr Jonathan Chow said, “We will conduct a clinical trial to confirm the results of our study. If our findings are confirmed, aspirin can turn into the most effective drug used against Kovid-19 in all. the world”. However, the scientists reported that the positive effect of aspirin does not change when factors such as age, sex, race, weight, and presence of chronic diseases that increase the risk against Kovid-19 are also taken into account. It was reported that patients with Kovid-19 who took aspirin and were in the control group had similar bleeding risks.
IT CAN PREVENT WRAPPING BY WATERING THE BLOOD
Experts explained that aspirin prevents blood clotting (thrombosis), a leading cause of Kovid-19 death, by diluting the blood. Making a statement on the subject, Dr. Michael Mazzefi said: “We believe that the thinning effect of aspirin prevents sudden blood clotting in patients with Kovid-19. Therefore, we recommend patients with a diagnosis of Kovid-19. to consult your doctor and take aspirin. “
WHY DOES BLOOD MATTER IN PATIENTS WITH CORONAVIRUS?
Scientists revealed in their previous studies that the cause of death for one in three patients with Kovid-19 was “blood clotting”. The clots reach important organs such as the lungs, heart and brain. So, if blood flow is interrupted, serious conditions such as heart attack, stroke, organ failure and embolism occur.
However, although the researchers were unable to understand why the virus causes blood clots, a strong link is believed to be with the cytokine storm.
