New feature: You can now flirt with your matches on Tinder via video chat

Meeting in the time of Corona is more difficult. While it is still possible to search for possible matches on the internet as soon as you get to the first meeting, it becomes more difficult. Dating platform Tinder now wants to counter this problem and launched its video chat feature on Tuesday. This should allow Tinder matches to create a visual connection with the new acquaintance without having to get in touch personally.

“We are delighted to finally be able to introduce the video chat feature to our community around the world, especially after receiving such positive feedback from members that they were able to test the feature early,” said Rory Kozoll, Head of Trust & Safety Produced on Tinder. “The video chat feature complements our growing list of members’ safety-oriented features during their dating experience, such as photo verification, the security center, and our offensive message detection technology.”

Using the individual settings, each user can decide how they want to use Tinder’s video feature. So you don’t have to worry about unwanted calls, a company message reads.

Both parties must accept the video call. Here, too, Tinder uses its familiar matching feature. So, if you are interested in a video call with a new acquaintance, you can press a video icon. The video function will only be activated if the other person does the same. If only one of the two people clicks on the video symbol, the person you are talking to will never know.

This feature can also be deactivated at any time. So if you lose interest in a match, you can easily turn off the video feature.
