For the fight Infantile paralysis, 258,904 children were vaccinated against polio in Ceará during the national vaccination campaign, which began on 5 October. This amount represents approximately 50.6% of the total target audience – children aged 1 to less than 5. The state hopes to achieve target of 510,895 vaccines applied.
The data was obtained at 19:32 yesterday (27) through the Information System of the National Immunization Program (SIPNI), do Ministry of Health. The federal government’s campaign began on October 5 and was supposed to end on Friday (30). However, according to the immunization coordinator of the Secretariat of State for Health (of), Carmem Osterno, the deadline should be extended.
“We received a statement last week that the campaign will be extended, probably until the end of November. Here in Ceará we were able to quickly resume all the service, but there are still states and municipalities with difficulties, so they will expand in order to achieve the objectives ”, he specifies.
According to Sesa, the state did it 2,631 vaccine rooms. In a note, the file reinforces that children under five should be vaccinated against polio. “It is important that the target audience of the campaigns show up at the health services with the vaccination record so that professionals can assess if there is any vaccine pending,” he points out.
The coordinator also explains that due to a lack of data, it is possible that Ceará has already applied a greater amount of vaccines. “When municipalities are vaccinated, data entry is not immediate. The working day is over and the next day the data is entered into the Health Secretariat system. It is worth remembering that not all health stations have computers or any Internet stations. We have many teams working in the countryside. For this reason, we believe many more vaccines have already been applied, ”he says.
During the campaign, all the vaccines foreseen in the vaccination calendar will be available. In Carmem Osterno’s assessment, the expectation of reaching the polio goal is positive.
“The municipalities are doing a great job overall with their teams. We will certainly do a good result in October ”, he guarantees.
